I’m looking for ideas on where to shop for plus-sized clothing without breaking the bank (that latter bit there being very important). I tend to the very basic: Loose tops and bottoms, tanks, overshirts, shorts, cargo pants, etc. But I would like the option of flowy / dressy tunic-style tops, as well. Preferably ones that don’t help me look like a walking circus tent. 🙂
(And yes, I know the right answer is to lose weight and inches. I’m trying to work on that. However, in the meantime, I can’t exactly walk around naked. Nobody wants that.)
Here is my list of usual places to look. What can you add to them?
- Avenue
- Catherine’s
- Dress Barn
- Lane Bryant
- Woman Within
Thanks!

Being all the way over there on the left coast, hard to give you directions to our favorite big lady shops! But… my twins and I love Value Village (Savers in Hawaii) and have found great stuff there in our sizes. We also have two awesome big lady consignment shops, one in Seattle, one in Tacoma, where there are even designer clothes. So I guess whatever the East Coast version of those would be…. good luck!
Onestopplus consolidates a bunch of other sites, including a couple you’ve mentioned. If you’re not allergic to flash sale sites, Zulily is pretty much the only one I know of that has regular (like, every day) plus-size clothing sales; some of the others have them occasionally. Holy Clothing, if that works with your style. I am a huge fan of ASOS Curve, especially on sale. Simply Be has some cute stuff, but never pay full price for it, wait for one of their fairly regular sales.
I’m a big fan of SWAK designs. They advertise weekly sales via email.
Making it Big (yes, the name, I know), navabi.us, distinctionsplus.com. None of those are cheap, but if you want cheap, go to One stop plus as someone already suggested. Also, it’s worth checking the big department store sites as they sometimes forget what they’re doing and put an actual useful plus-size item on there.
“Dots” is a chain that carries some plus-sized stuff. I bought jeans there as they had different cuts in addition to sizes and were very reasonably priced.
try see if there’s a swap/sale site on fb
