If you’re interested in Mr. Cumberbatch, I found a series that he did back in 2008 called “The Last Enemy” (link leads to IMDB page). It’s about a brilliant mathematician (Cumberbatch) who has been living in China for the last several years, and returns to the UK only to attend his brother’s funeral. Upon arrival, he discovers a London that has been vastly changed by a bombing of a tube station, resulting in greater police / military presence and a decline in anything resembling personal privacy.
He also falls for a woman, loses a corpse that was in his apartment, gets a new job, and gets into various kinds of trouble. And I’ve only watched the first (of five) episodes. It’s kind of erratic, and I’m not sure they’re going to be able to pull off the premise in 7.5 hours (each episode is 90 minutes long), but I’m willing to give it a shot. Besides, you get to see our hero’s naked bum, and in a pair of plain white boxer shorts. I can’t decide if this is more or less amusing than the Sherlock-in-a-sheet scene.
Anyway, for those with Amazon Prime, it’s available to stream for free. Of course, you could always buy the episodes to stream, or purchase the DVD.
Enjoy.
To those of you who know me and my habits well enough for this to make sense: Enough of the show happens non-verbally that I can’t easily knit and watch the show at the same time, as I keep missing bits.
Must. Watch. Thank you for bringing this to my attention!
Of course!
I discovered that I’m finding it fascinating to watch him make out with someone. Not even entirely in a “it pokes at my libido” sort of way. Mostly because I’ve *almost* typecast him as a … not a robot, but someone above such trivial things as physical contact and sex, so to find him actually partaking in and (apparently) enjoying such actions is oddly disconcerting.
… Not that I’ve overthought this or anything.
A Sheldon?
Tim: That might help, if I wasn’t so disappointed at the lack of recognizability of the dragon’s voice in the movie. Not that I expected Sherlock, and I know they did a fabulous job. It just didn’t resonate with me as being Mr. Cumberbatch.
Annalivia: Not a Sheldon. Too much of a caricature. He actually mentally fills a place in my head that’s already occupied by someone else (though I’ll not call the person out here). Maybe that’s what I’m finding so disconcerting. 🙂
Where can I view this?
It’s available on Amazon Prime streaming. Neither Netflix nor Hulu has it. The DVD is quite inexpensive ($16, I think). I could pick it up for you and ship it with the next box (which is coming up soon).
Yes please!
Pingback: This is pertinent to your interests: Hugh Laurie & Stephen Fry edition. » earth-shattering kaboom.
Annalivia: DVD ordered. Once it arrives, it will (hopefully) fit into the box I already have for you, and be on its way. 🙂

Bwahaha. That’s fantastic.
Those are a real cookie cutter you can order via the link. They have a bunch of Dr Who/videogame/HP stuff too
Oh man. If I were at all capable in the baking arts, I’d be all over that. Now I just have to con one of my friends into making me a Cumberbatch! Hey, Rhiannon! You should totally make some of these! 😉
