(Cue Breathe earworm. For the three people out there who know the song.)
I’ve been feeling kind of melancholy for the past few days. I’m not entirely sure why. Things are actually going pretty well for me right now. I’m busy, my health is as good as it’s been in the past couple of years, I have no great stressors in my life. And yet, I’m feeling down.
What are the best ways you know of to fight general feelings of sadness and / or discontentedness? (Please don’t tell me to go take a walk. It’s DC in the summer. For me, that way lies death.)
… Just Breathe.
Wish I knew – been going through the same. *hugs*
I actually experience seasonal affective disorder symptoms in the summer. I get depressed in the heat and bright sun in the summer the same way people feel down in the winter due to the cold and prolonged darkness (neither of which bother me at all). I actually saw a psychiatrist about it in my early 20s and was told that I couldn’t be officially diagnosed with SAD because the DSM (I think it was version IV at the time) specifically stated that the depression had to be linked to winter weather. The funk lifts as soon as fall rolls around, and comes back in mid-June, year after year. Do you think it could just be related to the season?
