My dear friends at Cloverhill Yarn have chosen the next knit along (KAL) project: the Eden Prairie shawl. It will be my first foray into the world of intarsia, and I’m both excited and nervous. It’s a beautiful shawl, and I don’t want to mess it up!
I’ve ordered my wool for the shawl (using up the rest of my Christmas present from Jer and Shamala), and am pleased with the color choices (at least, with the way they look online). Here’s the lineup:
All Madeline Tosh Merino Light. From left to right, they are:
- Dirty Panther (borders)
- Tern (diagonal panels)
- Mica (diagonal panels)
- Robin Red Breast (central diamonds)
Very meri colors, no?
Until this yarn shows up, I still have work to do on the Maple Leaf shawl (2 more corners, all the loose ends, and blocking to go) and the Simple Shawl for Fancy Yarns (almost done with one ball (of two)). I also still have to block and ship Missy’s cowl, Jakob’s present, and Ash’s present.
Never a dull moment!
It’s not bad at all!
Mary: Kathy and I have wondered what you do with your finished projects. Do you sell them?
Henry: Most of the designers of the patterns I use expressly prohibit the selling of finish products made from their patterns. So, I make things and give them away, mostly. I’ve kept a couple of items for myself, but for the most part, I find someone that I think will enjoy the finished product, and give it to them. 🙂
Wae: Glad to hear! There are a couple of places, in reading the pattern, where my eyes start to cross a bit. But, I suspect it will make more sense once I have the stitches in front of me.
To follow up Henry’s question, have you ever designed your own patterns to sell/share? And could you barter with your finished projects for other crafts/services/yarn or other materials (like beads)? Not that I wouldn’t love a Meri creation myself someday 😉
I have several that are among my most prized possessions.
Dee: I’ve never designed my own projects, though I’ve been tempted a time or two. Maybe someday.
I don’t know what the rules are for bartering, but I’m inclined to think that as long as money doesn’t change hands… And I’ve been tempted to knit for you, but I don’t know what to make for someone who lives in Hawaii! A shawl? What kind of colors do you like? Any fiber allergies? 🙂
Terri: Awww, thank you!
All the yarn things look like the hairdos of Tweety’s keeper, whatever her name and relationship is. Also, WTP keeps giving me a server busy message, for like the past two days. Might uninstall and reinstall, but do you think our games will be reset?
Also: your WP should allow comments from non-registered users like me, who want to say dumb things about hairdos and yarn.
