Well, not one of you, necessarily. But I’m hoping that one (or more) of you can point me to some awesome doctors.
That’s right, kids. It’s time to make the rounds and find me a new passel of doctors to try to keep the creaky meri boat afloat.
Off the top of my head, in order of urgency, I need recommendations for:
- Primary Care Physician
- Pain Management Center
- Dentist (I have a tooth that is going to try very very hard to shuffle off this mortal porcelain soon)
- Cardiologist (I’m fine! I’m fine! And I’d like to stay that way. Mostly for meds refills.)
- Psychiatrist (See above.)
- Rheumatologist
- Endocrinologist (If my PCP can take care of this, that’s awesome. If not, then I’ll need one of these.)
- Gynecologist (See “Endocrinologist” above.)
- Therapist
- Podiatrist (Maybe my new insurance will cover custom orthodics? Maybe?)
- Physical Therapist (No pressing need at the moment, but I’m me, and it’s inevitable.)
So, whatcha got for me? Any recommendations? Any dis-recommendations?
Meri, I’m sharing this with some Seattle friends/family. Hope some good folks come up since my sister, Susan Hoover, is also moving to Seattle and will need some of the same.
Thank you, Katherine!
Swedish. As to where, a lot depends on where you actually are over on this side. I’m fond of the bunch over at Swedish Factoria, but that’s south of I-90, and I gather you’re up more towards the center of Redmond?
They are a bit north of you, but I recommend The Everett Clinic: http://www.everettclinic.com/Default.ashx?p=831
They have a lot of the specialties you need. 🙂
From my general review of health, including friends/family, I would go with Group Health because they handle chronic conditions in a coordinated way. I will specifically email my friend, Carol Isakson, and my sister-in-law, Monica Hoover, who have lifelong experience with GH and pass along your email. It’s an HMO and you have to advocate for yourself but good value. Gave my Mom top care at the end of her life.
Worst things about moving are finding new doctors and a new hairdresser. Good luck!
If you need an orthopedic, I recommend Merritt Auld at Swedish downtown. My wife loves her doctors at Virginia Mason downtown, especially her allergist.
I can ask the SO, she’s a NP and may be able to give a reco or suggest you avoid. My GP is in Issaquah and part of the UW medical group and I’ve been happy with him.
