Thanks to a backlog of reading, less time in the car, a credit sale, and returning three audiobooks (don’t ask), I find myself with 8 credits at audible.com, and a complete lack of inspiration as to how to use them.
I could, of course, just continue along with Discworld (yes, I’ve read the books, but listening to them is a totally different experience), but I thought I’d take this opportunity to find out if any of you have any fabulous suggestions I should heed.
I’m pretty sure that I’ll be picking up The Complete Sherlock Holmes for 1 credit (I’m even familiar with the narrator, and like his style). And I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t tempted by Casanova, as narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch (though it would be breaking my “never buy abridged” rule, and I seem to recall not really caring for the book when I read it in high school). Oooh, and it seems that Martin Freeman has narrated a bit of Hitchhiker’s. And, of course, there’s Kitchen Confidential, narrated by the author.
But truly, I want to know what you’d recommend. Any great performances you’ve listened to lately that I should check out?
I usually listen to those in the car on long trips…
Ooohhhh…diskworld. yeah I need anew car audio series. No help for you, sorry, but you’ve inspired me. =)
DisCworld.
Dresden Files books are read by James Marsters so could be fun 🙂
