I would also like a pony.

Wow. Many moons ago, I asked for the ability to have my audiobooks (generally provided by Audible.com) to magically sync up with my ‘printed’ (generally Kindle) books. While some people agreed that it’d be kind of neat, most didn’t see the use case, because you lose the story-teller side of the narration. However, I find that there are some books where the narrator, while pleasant and certainly easy to listen to, doesn’t actually bring that much extra to the tale, and I’ve been hoping for a  way to continue with the story even after (say) going to bed – without inflicting the audiobook on my partner.

Sale Alert: SteamDrunks for Free [Kindle]

Oh, this looks entertaining. SteamDrunks: 101 Steampunk Cocktails and Mixed Drinks is currently available for free on Amazon. As always, I’m unsure as to how long this price will be valid, so please look carefully before purchasing. (And, again as always, you can read Kindle ebooks on any number of devices, including your  Windows / OSX systems, or iOS and Android phones / tables / gadgets.)

From the description:

SteamDrunks: 101 Steampunk Cocktails and Mixed Drinks gently escorts you through the treacherous waters of 19th century mixology.

You’ll find authentic Victorian punch recipes that could be confused for farmer’s cheese, tea recipes which will knock you out rather than wake you up, and downright chewable eggy cream curdles.

If nothing else, it looks like it will be an entertaining read.

Another find from Pixel of Ink.

Despite myself, I am intrigued…

First off, if you own a Kindle (or use the Kindle app on your $DEVICE), you should probably read Pixel of Ink. It’s one of my favorite, “Oooh, cheap or free Kindle books!” lists. Though it still has its share of romance novels (because, really, numbers lean heavily that way), it seems to make an effort to include other genres that are often overlooked by some of the other bargain listing sites.

Like, this book, for instance:

The first volume in The Oz Chronicles recalls both Stephen King’s The Stand and L. Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz.

For free, it might be worth picking up, based upon that description alone.
